    ConjureMan Ali, also known as Dr. Raven, is a long-time student of the occult and esotericism. Born and raised in a family with ancient ties to the magi of the Near East and the prophets and seers of antiquity, he began his journey into the occult at a young age. At birth the elders of his family recognized a spiritual calling in him and he was deemed the spiritual heir of his family’s patriarch.

    The inkling that his elders had about him turned out to be true: from a young age he took up the studies of the occult and made his foray into spiritual practice even beyond what was taught to him by his elders. He became an avid student of traditional occultism and took up the classical studies of Astrology, Hermeticism, Alchemy, and the Qabalah. He was adopted into the hoodoo tradition by his first conjure teacher, who also gave him the name of Dr. Raven, which he has kept in her honor. This name was later confirmed to him by his spirits.

    Supplementing his work in conjure and hoodoo ConjureMan Ali also took up the practice of grimoire conjuring and developed a strong alliance with several chthonic spirits who along with his ancestors and his other personal spirits further cemented his image as a magician and mage associated with the grave and the power its inhabitants can hold.

    A devotee of the mysteries of the Tarot, ConjureMan Ali took on his first reading client in his early teens and his first rootwork case shortly afterwards. His innate talent in matters of occultism and magick has made him somewhat of a prodigy even in his younger years that was recognized by those around him and resulted in people years older than him seeking out him as a teacher.

    ConjureMan Ali is also an initiated Tata (high priest) in the African Traditional Religion of Quimbanda and the founder of The House of Quimbanda.

    ConjureMan Ali’s approach to magick emphasizes the importance of classical occult education with a deep appreciation and respect for tradition which is applied to practical real-world experiences. He is a professional rootworker, Tarot reader, geomancer, astrologer, goetic magician, hermeticist, necromancer, Tata Quimbanda bibliophile, writer, perpetual student  and scholar.

    Starr Casas a Conjure Woman born in Kentucky:

    I’ve been a conjure woman all my life.  I learned how to do this work from my momma and grandmomma who learned from their elders. 

    Conjure or what people now call Hoodoo has always been around.  In my family we didn’t call it Hoodoo.  We simply knew this to be “Conjure” or “work.”

    I’ve been a Conjure woman for over 40 years.  I first learned how to read playing cards at 16 and by the time I was 17 I was already doing spiritual cleansings or what some call uncrossing work.  I also did healing work at this time.  By the time I turned 25 I was doing work for the family but at that moment I knew it was time to start helping others.  At that point I did Conjure work full time for folks that were referred to me by my relatives or by others who knew me.  I always worked only by word of mouth until three years ago when it was time to share my gift of Conjure work on the Internet.

    Being a conjure doctor I was taught hands on spiritual work by my elders and all the wonderful folks who came into my life.  I continue these hands on teachings through the hoodoo mini courses I offer with my students as a way of giving back to all those shared this knowledge with me.

    I hope this small introduction will shed some light on who I am.  I am a traditional Old Style Conjure woman who works with herbs, roots, and the Spirits to help you MASTER your troubles and come out VICTORIOUS!!!  This is my goal as a Conjure woman, two headed root doctor, and spiritual advisor!!! 

    I offer consultations if you are seeking help from a caring and compassionate spiritual worker.  I also offer candle burning services if you need to set a vigil light on your troubles and concerns.

    Denise Alvarado (1960) is a New Orleans born, native Creole raised in the Voodoo and Hoodoo rich culture of New Orleans, Louisiana. She has studied indigenous healing traditions from a personal, professional and academic perspective for over four decades.
